The UNSW Aviation Society is back again with our annual Careers Expo & Panel. This year, our Careers Expo & Panel was proudly sponsored by Sydney Airport. The Expo was held on the 23rd of September in the Tyree Room of the Scientia Building. We had attendees ranging from first year aviation students up to honours students. Students had the chance to ask questions and network with representatives from aviation organisations such as CAPA – Centre for Aviation, Dnata, Qantas, QantasLink, Singapore Airlines, Sydney Airport, Virgin Australia and Western Sydney Airport.
While students got the chance to network on a one-to-one basis with the representatives, we also held a Q&A session with a panel of guest speakers who are experienced in the aviation industry. Our guest speakers answered several aviation- related questions asked by a host, and the audience were also given the chance to ask any questions they had in mind.
The guest speakers included: David Biskin – General Manager, Bankstown Airport, Carolyn Vaughan – Principal Advisor of Human Factors, Qantas William Lin – Q400 First Officer, QantasLink and Karl Schubert – Public Relations Manager South West Pacific, Singapore Airlines.
The UNSW Aviation Society would like to express our warmest gratitude to the guest speakers and representatives for taking time out of their busy schedule to share their wisdom with us, and also the to the attendees for their participation and enthusiasm throughout the night. We hope that from our annual Careers Expo & Panel, students were able to obtain more information about their various internship opportunities and graduate programs, and broaden their knowledge on their career prospects.
