On the early afternoon of the 28th of March, 15 students eagerly waited outside of Qantas Headquarters, in Mascot. As each one of the student check their name off at the reception there was a thrilling excitement present in the air.
Inviting aviation students into the Qantas HQ, was equivalent to taking a kid to a candy store. You could see the excitement in everyones faces as they received their visitors pass. We were all thankful to Ayman, one of our students and also a current Qantas employee who organised this tour, swiped everyone in, it all became surreal.
Up to level 3. As the elevator doors opened, the students caught a glimpse into the IOC office space. There were many talented people chattered away, all working hard to run Qantas from behind the scenes. Steve, the duty manager, came by and assisted our students. He gave our students a great learning opportunity with his insight and knowledge on the IOC operations. It was a great learning experience where Steve applied real life situations and the students could see what was the current challenges in the industry.
Later, the students were given a brief tour around the IOC office, where they were able to meet some people from different department. It was amazing to see the nature of each department and how the IOC seamlessly sync them together.
